By accessing or using Schoolwise ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

Schoolwise is operated by Schoolwise Inc. ("we", "us", or "our"). We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Description of Service

Schoolwise is an AI-powered assistant that helps parents stay informed about their children's school activities. Our Service includes:

• Answering questions about school events, schedules, and information
• Sending notifications about upcoming events and important updates
• Providing weekly digest summaries of school activities
• Processing school communications to extract relevant information
• Optionally syncing school-related emails from your Gmail account (with your consent)

SMS Text Messaging Terms

By opting in to receive SMS text messages from Schoolwise, you agree to the following terms:

How to Opt In

You can opt in to receive SMS messages from Schoolwise in the following ways:

• Web App Sign-Up: During registration at schoolwise.ai/chat, you provide your phone number and consent to receive messages as part of account creation
• Mobile App Sign-Up: During registration in the Schoolwise mobile app, you provide your phone number and consent to receive messages
• Text START: You can text the keyword START to our number to opt in to receive messages

Message Details

• Consent: You consent to receive recurring automated text messages from Schoolwise at the phone number you provide
• Message Types: Messages may include school event reminders, weekly digest summaries, schedule alerts, and responses to your questions about school activities
• Message Frequency: Message frequency varies. You may receive up to 10 messages per week, depending on your notification preferences and school activity
• Costs: Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details

How to Opt Out

• Text STOP: Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. You will receive a confirmation message and no further texts will be sent
• Text HELP: Reply HELP for assistance, or contact support@schoolwise.ai

Gmail Integration Terms

By connecting your Gmail account to Schoolwise, you agree to the following terms:

• Authorization: You authorize Schoolwise to access your Gmail account in read-only mode to retrieve school-related emails from senders you approve
• Limited Access: We only access emails from senders you explicitly confirm during setup. Your personal, financial, medical, and other non-school emails are never accessed
• Data Use: School emails we sync are processed to extract event dates, schedules, and school information. This data is used solely to power the Schoolwise assistant for your family
• Revocation: You may disconnect Gmail at any time from your settings page. Disconnecting immediately revokes our access. Previously synced school information is retained to keep your assistant functional
• Google Policies: Our use of Gmail data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements

User Accounts

To use certain features of our Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use our Service to:

• Violate any laws or regulations
• Infringe on the rights of others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Transmit malicious code or interfere with the Service
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
• Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our consent

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Information provided will be completely accurate or up-to-date
• The Service will meet your specific requirements

Schoolwise aggregates information from school communications but is not affiliated with any school or school district. Always verify important information directly with your school.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Schoolwise and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, we will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
